The Mill Cafe and Bagel Bar (Belfast)

If you ever find yourself strolling down Stranmillis Street in Belfast, it won’t be long before the scent of fresh bagels and rich coffee leads you straight to The Mill Cafe and Bagel Bar (Belfast). Located at 82 Stranmillis St, this charming little café has quickly become a local favorite-not just for its laid-back vibe, but for its unbeatable combination of hearty bagels, cozy drinks, and laptop-friendly atmosphere.

Let’s talk bagels, because that’s where The Mill truly shines. Whether you're into classic combinations or inventive creations, this spot delivers with flavor and flair. The Chicken Bagel and Chips is a solid choice for first-timers-warm, grilled chicken sandwiched in a freshly baked bagel, perfectly toasted on the outside with just enough chew to make each bite satisfying. The chips? Golden, crunchy, and addictive. Then there’s the Beef Bagel Sandwich, ideal for meat lovers. It’s got that juicy, savory punch you crave mid-lunch, with melted cheese and fresh greens giving it that perfect café-style balance.

But if there’s one dish that steals the spotlight, it’s the Messi Bagel. As bold as its namesake, this creation isn’t your average deli-style snack-it’s packed with flavor, personality, and just the right amount of spice to wake up your taste buds. Pair it with a side of biscotti or marshmallows if you’re in the mood for something sweet. That combo hits the spot whether you're grabbing a quick bite or slowly sipping your way through the morning.

Speaking of sipping, The Mill Cafe and Bagel Bar takes its coffee and tea seriously. The great coffee here is more than just a caffeine fix-it’s freshly brewed, smooth, and barista-crafted with attention to detail. It’s the kind of place where regulars know their order by heart and the staff greets you like you’ve been coming for years. If tea is your thing, you’ll be glad to know their tea selection is just as impressive, featuring everything from classic English Breakfast to herbal blends you won’t find everywhere.

What makes The Mill more than just another café is its versatility. It's the perfect breakfast spot to start your day with energy, but it also doubles as a great lunch destination when you need a filling meal that doesn’t feel heavy. Solo diners love the chill vibe, and thanks to the wheelchair-accessible entrance and thoughtful layout, it's an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome.

Laptop warriors, rejoice-The Mill Cafe and Bagel Bar is good for working on your laptop, especially during quieter mid-morning hours. With ample seating and a casual, friendly atmosphere, it's easy to settle in with a cappuccino and power through emails, assignments, or that creative project you’ve been putting off.

In terms of service, they’ve got all the bases covered. Dine-in, of course, is popular-especially for those who love a bit of people-watching by the window or soaking up some fresh air at their outdoor seating. But if you’re in a rush, the takeaway and delivery options make it easy to grab your favorites on the go. It’s one of those places that adapts to your schedule without compromising on quality.

From the cozy, rustic interior to the creative bagel menu and excellent coffee selection, The Mill Cafe and Bagel Bar (Belfast) ticks all the right boxes. Whether you’re starting your day, grabbing lunch, or looking for a quiet space to recharge, this café brings together comfort, quality, and community in the heart of Belfast.

If you're looking for the perfect spot to grab a bagel that hits all the right notes, this is it! From the moment you walk in, the warm, fresh aroma of baking bread sets the tone for an incredible experience.I have probably eaten here more times than I would like to admit, the location is just up the road from Queen's University and there is a range of different bagels for any sort of cravings, from a simple cheesy bagel, to a bagel filled with different types of meats, avocado, peppers or even a delicious breakfast bagel. The ambiance is cozy but modern, with a few tables for dining in and great packaging for those grabbing to-go. Pricing is reasonable, especially for the quality you get.Whether you're a bagel purist or love to try new flavors and combinations, this place won't disappoint. Highly recommend it for breakfast, lunch, or a mid-day snack. Don't forget to grab a few extras to take home!

Love these bagels I’ve had them a good few times now! I had a small issue with an Uber eats order, but it was quickly resolved when I got into contact with Ryan. He was extremely friendly and helpful and offered me and my mum a replacement, which was absolutely delicious! Everyone in the stranmillis shop was very apologetic and friendly. Would highly recommend this place and will be back again :)
